Velvety, dark olive-green, lance-shaped leaves grow to 5-12” in length. The white flower spadice is topped with numerous very small yellow flowers. The overall effect is very striking. ‘Big Red’ is a form selected for its red-stemmed leaves which add a striking color highlight to the plant.

Water Depth – Up to 18”. Leaves tend to emerge in shallow water (6-9”), but mostly float in deeper water (12-18”)

We’ve been growing this in our pond for many, many years, but 2024 was the first year we thought to look for seeds. We found them and they germinated the same season. Remains to be seen how well young seedlings overwinter, but if they do we’llhave plants available for sale in ’24
