Liquidambar styraciflua Happidaze™ – Sweetgum – 7-Gallon

$125.00

While the stronghold of this tree is the southern United States, Sweetgum does reach as far north as southeastern New York, in particular Long Island, and is generally cold hardy in our valleys – it’s probably a risky choice for higher elevations of the Catskills. Sweetgum is grown mostly as a shade tree and for its fiery mix of reddish orange, yellow and burgundy foliage in the Fall. Sweetgum has one big problem when used as a lawn tree – it produces spiny, woody seed capsules that are painful to step on barefoot. You can avoid this problem by planting Happidaze™ – it’s a fruitless variety.
