Pyrus × ‘Summercrisp’- Pear – 7-Gallon

$79.00

A 1985 introduction from the University of Minnesota via John Gaspard of Caledonia, Minnesota, and, along with ‘Bosc’ and ‘Flemish Beauty,’ varieties we also usually offer, an exceptionally cold-hardy pear. It has Sand Pear (P. ussuriensis) and European Pear in it’s parentage with fruit characteristics derived from the former parent – small (3-3.5”) crispy fruits that are good for fresh eating only. A unique pear as it is best picked and consumed at the height of Summer (mid-August) when the fruit is crispy and not fully ripe. The fruit quality decreases rapidly if allowed to fully ripen.
