Vitis ‘Swenson Red’ – Red Seeded Grape – 2-Gallon

$15.00

Medium- to large-sized, red to quite blue, non-slip-skin grapes in long, compact clusters. High sugar content – even sweet when green. The first really cold hardy grape to rival California grapes. No northern garden should be without it. Cold hardy (-20 to -30° F; zone 4) and vigorous. Makes an acceptable white wine. Ripens in early September. Only slightly susceptible to black rot and botrytis, but moderately susceptible to downy mildew, and highly susceptible to powdery mildew – use organic fungicides such as plant-based oils, ultra-fine mineral oil, beneficial bacteria such as Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (Revitalize), peroxyacetic acid (Zerotol) or garden sulfur to help control mildew if it occurs.
