Lobelia spicata – Pale Spike Lobelia – 1-Quart

$6.00

Most gardeners know of one of our most spectacular wildflowers, Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis), and usually are aware of another showy relative, Great Blue Lobelia (L. siphilitica). There are two other garden-worthy species native to our area that are virtual unknowns in horticulture – Kalm’s Lobelia, with quite tiny flowers in an airy display, and this species with flowers that are considerably smaller than those of its more well-known brethren but still substantial enough to put on a pleasing display. And they retain attractiveness to hummingbirds and an array of pollinators. Flower color is white to pale blue or pale violet, hence the common name. More tolerant of dryish conditions than other members of the genus.
