Paxistima canbyi- ‘Mountain Lover’- 1-Gallon

$24.00

A lustrous evergreen groundcover whose leaves create an unusual, almost bristly texture – something akin to a miniature holly. In winter the foliage takes on bronze tones. Although it’s indigenous to limestone bluffs and rocky mountain woods from West Virginia and Virginia to eastern Kentucky, it has always grown well in our more northerly gardens here in the Catskills. Try combining with Bearberry or use in a rock garden. Demands good drainage. Do not overwater. Named for William Marriott Canby, a wealthy banker and amateur botanist who discovered the plant in the 19th century.
