Penstemon calycosus – Longsepal Beardtongue – 1-Quart

$6.00

Similar in form to Foxglove Beardtongue (P. digitalis), but not as common in New York, being found at only a few scattered locations including sites in Columbia and Rockland Counties. There is one historical record in Ulster County, though it appears the plant may be extirpated from our area. It’s much more common in Massachusetts and Vermont and also in the midwest. It’s flowers are pinker and it can tolerate more shade than its congener. Like all members of the genus this is an important food source for bumblebees and other native bees.
