Ribes ‘Black Velvet’ – Gooseberry – 1 Gallon

$11.00

Black Velvet is a Worcesterberry x European Gooseberry (Ribes uva-crispa ‘Champagne Red’) hybrid. What’s Worcesterberry you ask? Well that’s not entirely clear. It’s either a selected form of Coastal Black Gooseberry (Ribes divaricatum – a North American native gooseberry that grows from Washington State to California), or a hybrid between R. divaricatum and Ribes niveum – the Snow Currant from the Pacific Northwest. Whatever its parentage, this is a vigorous, healthy, productive plant. The sweet fruits are dark red to almost black  in color with an interesting blueberry like flavor.
