Viburnum nudum var. cassinoides – Northern Witherod or Wild Raisin – 3 Gallon

A handsome dense shrub with showy clusters of fruit that change from green to iridescent pink, then from red to blue before becoming black by late summer. The fruits are sweet and edible – another common name is Northern Wild Raisin – but have a large seed; they’re best reserved for nibbling or left for birds amongst which they are very popular. The dull dark green foliage turns orange-red, dull crimson and purple in the fall. You will need at least two plants to get fruit – or you can incorporate it into a planting with its more southern brethren, V. nudum var. nudum ‘Brandywine’ and ‘Winterthur.’
