Description

Most “orange” lilies aren’t really the color of the fruit, but more of a combination of yellow and pink with the overall effect approaching the color of an orange. ‘Patrick Chamoiseau’ comes closer than most to that elusive pure orange color. The highly double form is also quite showy, but we’ve noticed some odd behavior of the flower. In particular on hot days the flowers almost “melt”, with most of the petals collapsing toward the water surface. This is a Florian Henaux introduction from France, and, while the majority of his introductions are top-notch, we’re a little worried about the melting flowers. This may partly be a result of growing the lily in a tub with water that gets quite warm, but none of our more than 50 other lilies exhibit this behavior.
