Rhododendron vaseyi – Pinkshell Azalea

An elegant azalea with beautiful soft pink flowers that appear before the leaves. The petals are not fully fused together into a tube so that the flow- ers resemble butterflies alit on bare branches. In fall, the foliage often turns a rich burgundy color. One of the easiest and most vigorous azaleas for the woodland garden, pond edge or shady shrub border. Prefers a moist soil but tolerates a good bit of drought.
