Cornus amomum – Silky Dogwood

$39.00$59.00

A large, robust, rounded shrub. Creamy white flowers are followed by porcelain-blue berries that birds absolutely love. Stems take on purplish-red tones in winter – not as spectacular as Red-osier Dogwood, but showy none-the-less. Foliage takes on Fall color earlier than other dogwoods, turning shades of red in late Summer to early Fall. Silky dogwood grows well in sun or part shade, and in moist, even wet soil. It’s a great shrub for massing in a wildlife hedgerow or naturalizing along a stream to help control erosion. Like other dogwoods, it’s a host plant for the Spring Azure butterfly.
