Actaea pachypoda – White Baneberry or Doll’s Eyes

A woodland plant grown primarily for its showy berries in late summer and fall. The white berries are carried on thick reddish stalks and each has a black dot resembling a pupil, hence the common name. The other common name refers to the mild toxicity of the berries. If grown en masse, the fluffy white flower clusters are ornamental. Try growing with Red Baneberry, Ferns, Asters, Monkshoods, Bellworts, Blue Lobelia, and Trilliums.
