Rhododendron ‘Millenium’ – Deciduous Azalea – 5-Gallon

$79.00

Beginning in the 1930s, Ed Mezitt at Weston Nurseries in Massachusetts began hybridizing native azaleas, selecting for cold hardiness, summer bloom and fragrance. ‘Millenium’ has velvety red buds that open to dark pink, fragrant trusses of flowers.  The foliage is green with a glaucous silver underside. ‘Millenium’ was selected from a cross of ‘Weston’s Sparkler’ and ‘Weston’s ‘Parade’ – thus the plant has four species of native azalea in its parentage – Sweet Azalea (R. arborescens), Plumleaf Azalea (R. prunifolium), Cumberland Azalea (R. cumberlandense) and Swamp Azalea (R. viscosum).
