Betula alleghaniensis – Yellow Birch – 15-Gallon

$155.00

One of the dominant canopy trees at higher elevations of the Catskills, especially along streams. Does well at lower elevations as well but, as a valuable timber tree for veneer and furniture, it has been widely harvested and is not as common as it once was. The bark, though not as showy as Paper or River Birch bark, is subtly ornamental: a satin bronzy-silvery-yellow color, it peels off in thin strips giving the tree something of a shaggy appearance. A great yard tree for a bit of shade and moist soil, avoid planting in hot, dry situations.
