Carpinus x Skylark™ – Fastigiate Hornbeam – 2-Gallon

$39.00

In an attempt to produce a more cold hardy upright hornbeam, Dr. Harold Pellett, former professor at University of Minnesota, crossed our native hornbeam, Carpinus caroliniana, with a fastigiate form of the European hornbeam, Carpinus betulus ‘Fastigiata’. The result is a form superior to ‘Fastigiata’ – Skylark™ maintains a tighter columnar form even at maturity. At maturity the tree will be 25-35 feet tall and 10-15 feet wide. In Fall the foliage takes on golden colors.
