Cornus sericea ‘Flaviramea’ – Yellow-twig Dogwood

$29.00

A dense shrub with yellow twigs that brighten the winter landscape – mass plantings put on the best display. The white fruits that arise from creamy-white flowers are a valued food for birds. New stems have the most intense coloration – remove one third of the oldest canes each year, or cut completely to the ground in late winter. Young stems of ‘Flaviramea’ turn from green to a fairly bright yellow in winter. We find it most effective against a background of evergreens, in particular it works well with inkberry (Ilex glabra). Introduced by Spath Nursery in Germany way back in 1900!
