Anaphalis margaritacea – Pearly Everlasting – 1-Quart

$6.00

Easy to grow in a sunny, well-drained location. The biggest problem we have growing pearly everlasting is that it’s a host plant for the caterpillars of the American painted lady butterfly (Vanessa virginiensis) and the painted lady butterfly (Vanessa cardui). Caterpillar numbers can be so high that young plants are completely defoliated and don’t recover. We’ve resorted to picking caterpillars from plants and moving them to local wild populations of pussytoes (Antennaria spp.), an alternative host plant.
