You will often find native species of Lady’s-slipper offered for sale at inexpensive prices in mail-order catalogs, on the World Wide Web, or even in local retail stores.
Many, if not all, of these plants are dug from the wild and are unlikely to survive in your garden – the roots of Slipper Orchids are easily damaged by transplanting and the plants will slowly decline after being moved.
All of our Lady’s-slippers are nursery propagated from laboratory-cultured seedlings – never dug from the wild. This makes them more expensive than wild-harvested plants but helps conserve and enhance the populations of these rare wildflowers.
Most of our plants are young and it will be years before they flower.
