Cystopteris fragilis – Fragile Fern – 2-Quart

$10.00

One of the most common of the world’s ferns, it occurs in just about every county in New York state. It’s one of the first ferns to start growing in spring and will spread slowly into a low, fresh green patch of little triangular fronds. It’s easy to grow – allow it to creep over and around mossy rocks in damp shade and limit competition from more robust ferns. Preferring cool, most locations it will go dormant in response to hot, dry summer weather. The petioles are fairly brittle – this gives the fern it’s common name.
