Gillenia trifoliata ‘Pink Profusion’ – Bowman’s Root – 3-Quart

A shrubby perennial with zigzagging stems and bright green, deeply divided foliage that takes on orange and yellow colors in the fall. The white flowers have a reddish colored base and the petals are arrayed unevenly, giving the plant an informal look, much like its tree-sized cousin, Serviceberry (Amelanchier spp.). Bowman’s Root is particularly effective when used in a mass planting where its lacy white flowers can shimmer in a light breeze. It’s an adaptable, tough plant once established, tolerating some shade and root competition from trees. Native to New York State, especially the counties of the Southern Tier, but not the Catskills.

‘Pink Profusion’ differs from the straight species by having flowers tinged in pink.
