Helianthus × multiflorus Suncatcher® – Perennial Sunflower – 1.5-Pint

Twentieth century horticulturists crossed our local native woodland sunflower (H. decapetalus) with the North American native annual sunflower (H. annuus) to get plants with a larger flower size that return every year to the garden. A number of varieties, such as ‘Capenoch Star,’ ‘Loddon Gold’ and ‘Soleil d’Or’ were produced but have more or less disappeared from the gardening world. Here’s a new one that we like more than any of the old varieties. Suncatcher® has great vigor and mildew-resistant foliage, nice-size flowers, and, most importantly, is more attractive to pollinators than older varieties. Great mid- to late-Summer color for the garden and bees!
