Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Snowflake’ – Oakleaf Hydrangea – 3-Gallon

$44.00

An early 1970s introduction from Aldridge Nursery in Alabama, this variety has long panicles of creamy white, double florets that weigh down the branches creating an arching habit. The florets slowly turn pinkish purple with age and for a period there is a beautiful two-tone effect. Snowflake is a medium sized Oakleaf Hydrangea. Given it’s Alabama roots it may be a little less cold hardy than some of the other varieties we offer. Conversely it will probably be happier in a sunnier spot than other varieties while still benefitting from a little shade from the hot afternoon sun.

We no longer stock this variety because the inflorescences are made up primarily of double flowers and aren’t as attractive to pollinators as varieties with fertile flowers.
