Iris versicolor – Blue Flag

Price range: $6.00 through $18.00

This Iris will grow in boggy soil or submerged in up to a few inches of water making it a great choice for the bog garden, pondside or streamside. It can even be used in a flower border as long as the soil is consistently moist. The showy blue-violet flowers have highlights of white and gold and rise above graceful, sword-shaped foliage. We also carry a color form ‘Kermesina’ shown in the inset, with reddish-violet flowers. Flowers are pollinated by bumblebees and long-horned bees. Foliage is quite deer-resistant, though flowers are sometimes browsed.

Some of our plants are propagated from seeds collected in Ulster County, New York.
