Juniperus virginiana ‘Brodie’ – Eastern Red Cedar

$49.00$135.00

A dense, upright, pear-shaped form of this valuable wildlife tree, good for screening and wildlife hedgerows. ‘Brodie’ is a female tree – it produces waxy cones that many songbirds feed on, in particular the Cedar Waxwing which takes its name from the tree from which it frequently finds food. One issue with Eastern Red-cedar is its role in the life cycle of a fungal disease, Cedar-Apple Rust, which can compromise fruit production on many members of the Rose family such as Serviceberries. If you want to support songbirds, we recommend planting either Eastern Red-cedar or Serviceberries, but not both in close proximity.
