Liatris aspera forma alba – Rough Blazing Star – 5-Pint

$12.00

The most showy Blazing Star for drier conditions. The button-type flower heads are spaced out along the stems and are short-stalked or stalkless. Many butterflies find the flowers irresistible – you’ll be sure to attract them to your garden if you plant this species. For best results grow in full sun and well-drained soil – the plant will become floppy if grown in too rich of a soil or in too much shade. Found mostly from Michigan to North Dakota south to Texas and South Carolina – occurrences in New York near Lake Ontario and the Bronx appear to be introductions.

These come to us labeled as the very similar Liatris scariosa var. alba and that’s what their tag says. However they key out to L. aspera.
