Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Worplesdon’ – Sweetgum – 15-Gallon

$125.00

‘Worplesdon’ received the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in both 1987 and 2002 for its spectacular Fall color, glossy, deep green foliage in Summer and great form.  Sweetgum is fast growing and can be used as a shade tree though it doesn’t tend to grow as large in our area as it does further south.

Description

Witch-hazel family (Hamamelidaceae)

While the stronghold of this tree is the southern United States, Sweetgum does reach as far north as southeastern New York, in particular Long Island, and is generally cold hardy in our valleys – it’s probably a risky choice for higher elevations of the Catskills. Sweetgum is grown mostly for its fiery mix of reddish orange, yellow and burgundy foliage in the Fall.

Available late Summer
