Lonicera ‘Mandarin’- Honeysuckle

$11.00$24.00

This honeysuckle vine is a hybrid of Lonicera tragophylla, from China, and L. ×brownii, which is, itself, a hybrid of two natives, Trumpet Honeysuckle (L. sempervirens), and Hairy Honeysuckle (L. hirsuta). It has unique, ornamental foliage in spring, a copper-burgundy color that matures to dark green. In late spring, a profuse crop of showy flowers begins that lasts for most of the season.  They are narrow orange tubes with yellow interiors. Unlike native honeysuckles they are somewhat fragrant. Like native honeysuckles they are very appealing to hummingbirds. Recently awarded an Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society.
