Monarda x ‘Mojo’ – Bee Balm

Price range: $6.00 through $12.00

A hybrid between Bradbury’s Beebalm (M. bradburiana) and Wild Bergamot (M. fistulosa) from Brent Horvath of Intrinsic Perennial Gardens in Illinois. ‘Mojo’ emerges in Spring with chocolate-red foliage and stems. By the time the showy, purple flowers bloom in early Summer, foliage has turned to green. Bradbury’s Beebalm brings powdery mildew resistance to the cross while Wild Bergamot provides height, ‘Mojo’ being a middle-sized beebalm.  Despite being a hybrid, ‘Mojo’ seems to be quite attractive to the usual array of pollinators that are typically drawn in by bee balm – hummingbirds in particular, but also butterflies and bees.
