Oenothera fruticosa ssp. tetragona – Northern Sundrops – 1-Quart

$6.00

Sundrops is an example of a native plant that has been grown in gardens long before the native plant movement started. It’s a very showy plant common throughout most of the Eastern U.S., primarily from Pennsylvania down to Georgia. Gardeners moved the plant from the wild into their home landscape, then, because the plant can be an aggressive spreader forming substantial clumps over time, passed divisions on to their friends. This is a tough and reliable perennial, well-suited to hot and dry sites. Flower buds are red then open into beautiful bright yellow flowers. Possible companions include Butterflyweed (Asclepias tuberosa), Spotted Beebalm (Monarda punctata), Pale Beardtongue (Penstemon pallidus), Pricklypear Cactus (Opuntia humifusa) and White Goldenrod (Oligoneuron album).
