Oenothera macrocarpa – Missouri Evening Primrose – 1.25-Quart

$6.00

Formerly Oenothera missouriensis reflecting the species main distribtution in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. The flowers really do open in the evenings but usually last into the early morning. This can make the plant a bit of a tough sell because it mostly flowers when we are closed for sales. Still, the plant is well known enough that we sell a fair number of them. The oversized blooms put on quite a show starting in the early evening (it opens before nightfall and so can be appreciated without having to venture out into the garden in the dark). It’s a low growing plant that is ideal for a rock garden or as an edging plant in poor, gritty soils.
