Sarrarcenia x ‘Red Bug’ – Little Bug Pitcher Plant – 1-Pint

A hybrid of Sweet Pitcher Plant (S. rubra) and Wherry’s Pitcher Plant (S. wherryi) – the latter is sometimes considered a subspecies of Sweet Pitcher Plant, making ‘Red Bug’ simply a variant not a hybrid. In any case, ’Red Bug’ is amazing both for its vigor and the ridiculously large number of pitchers it produces. The pitchers are two-tone, green at the base and brick red toward the top, including the hood, with deep red veins and a slightly wavy or scalloped hood. “Sweet” in the common name refers to the flowers – they are very numerous, red and spicy fragrant.
