Trillium luteum – Yellow Toadshade – 1-Quart

$9.00

Light yellow flowers with a citrus scent sit atop attractively mottled leaves. Extensive drifts can be found in the central Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky, Tennessee and North Carolina on calcareous soils, yet, like many other lime-loving Trilliums, it has grown well for us in the Catskills in our mostly acidic soils. Those who attend the Gatlinburg, Tennessee wildflower pilgrimages see this plant by the thousands. Yellow Toadshade is quite similar to the maroon-colored Whippoorwill Flower (T. cuneatum) and where their ranges overlap some hybridization occurs. The two would make good companions in the woodland garden along with Wild Blue Phlox, Wild Ginger, Goldenseal, Crested Iris and Wood Poppy.
