Vaccinium x ‘Northland’ – Halfhigh Blueberry

An early mid-season variety from Michigan with small to medium sized, sweet berries – they have a  wild blueberry flavor and their size makes them perfect for baking. Partial lowbush blueberry parentage confers cold hardiness to Zone 4, perhaps even zone 3, a spreading habit and compact size (grows to 4’ x 4’). The foliage turns yellowish orange in the fall and new canes are bright yellow in winter. Requires pollen from another variety for fruit set – the 3/4-high varieties ‘Polaris’, ‘Chippewa’ and ‘Patriot’ are similar in growth habit but any other variety can serve as a pollenizer.
