Vernonia missurica – Missouri Ironweed

$6.00$12.00

The various species of Ironweed are pretty similar and you can’t go wrong with any of them if you’re looking for a tall, colorful, back-of-the-border perennial. Missouri Ironweed is a mid-sized plant – nowhere near as tall as the hulking New York (V. noveboracensis) or Tall Ironweed (V. gigantea). This makes it a little easier to incorporate into flower borders around the house. As with all Ironweeds, this one is very attractive to butterflies. Deer tend to leave Ironweeds alone. These plants should be the straight species (we also often offer plants under this name that are a little taller than typical Missouri Ironweed and are likely to have some Tall Ironweed genes).
