Nymphaea ‘Detective Erika’ – Large ISG Water Lily

Lily breeders have recently been successful in creating a range of purple-colored hardy lilies by hybridizing hardy lilies with purple tropical water lilies (ISG hybrids). They seem to be just as cold hardy as the hardy lilies. ‘Detective Erika’ is simply the best of the deep purple varieties. It has survived a few winters for us so there are no issues with cold-hardiness. It’s a prolific bloomer. Finally, the color is deeply saturated. Seems like there’s a new deep purple variety or 10 every year these days, but none have surpassed the beauty and performance of ‘Detective Erika.’ Created by Zijun Li of China.
