Panicum virgatum ‘Ruby Ribbons’- Switchgrass

‘Ruby Ribbons’ bluish-green leaves become tipped with burgundy very early in the summer, and keep getting darker and richer in color as the season progresses. The color ends up a beautiful purple-red in fall, topped by airy seedheads. The winter color is tan and the habit is upright. A cross made by Dr. Mark Brand of U. Conn, with P. virgatum ‘Heavy Metal’ and P. virgatum ‘Hänse Herms’ as its parents. Effective either as a specimen or en masse.
