Chionanthus virginicus – Fringetree

A very unique small tree with wispy white flowers that show off brilliantly against the large, glossy green, tropical-looking foliage. The foliage remains attractive through the summer then turns bright yellow in the fall. Male trees have somewhat larger flowers while females produce blue olive-like fruits that are very showy in the fall and are also valued by birds. Often grows as a multistemmed large shrub but can be pruned to keep it tree-like.
