Cladrastis kentuckea ‘Perkin’s Pink’- Yellowwood

$54.00$205.00

Yellowwood is a rare tree from the southern Appalachians that grows well here in the Catskills. This pink form is an even rarer plant that is seldom available in the nursery trade. It was originally discovered in the 1930s at the Perkins Institute for the Blind, Watertown, Massachusetts. The best flowering display occurs when the tree is grown in full sun – even then the tree may not flower each and every year. Fall foliage color is a bright, golden yellow. The smooth gray bark is similar to the bark of American Beech.
