Cornus sericea ‘Baileyi’ – Red-osier Dogwood

A dense shrub with red twigs that brighten the winter landscape – mass plantings put on the best display. The white fruits that arise from creamy-white flowers are a valued food for birds. New stems have the most intense coloration – remove one third of the oldest canes each year, or cut completely to the ground in late winter. ‘Baileyi’ has garnet red winter coloration and, unlike the straight species, it doesn’t spread widely by stolons – it will still form a large mass of twigs over time.
