Fragaria vesca – Woodland Strawberry – 1-Quart

$5.00

Woodland Strawberry is a circumboreal species, occurring in the northern latitudes of North America, Europe and Asia. The European taxon (F. vesca ssp. vesca) has been brought to North America and occurs extensively here; it’s difficult to tell apart from the North American taxon (F. vesca ssp. americana). The American variety typically has somewhat smaller flowers, elongated fruits, and stolons with appressed hairs at the beginning of the stolon. The “alpine strawberry” of horticulture is a Woodland Strawberry of European origin – we usually have a variety ‘Alexandria’ available for sale.
