Hydrangea arborescens ‘Annabelle’ – Smooth Hydrangea

$24.00$59.00

‘Annabelle’ is the best known variety of Hydrangea arborescens. Until recently, it has been about the only one easy to find in garden centers or even recognized by the public. ‘Annabelle’ is a stunning white hydrangea, often producing heads over 10″ in diameter. It blooms every year even after severe pruning or intensely cold winters. The huge, white “snowball” blooms appear in profusion without fail. It doesn’t support pollinators as well as the straight species, since so many flowers have been converted from fertile ones producing nectar and pollen to sterile ones producing neither. However there are a few fertile flowers, usually hidden a little lower on the flowering head, and we see a few pollinators getting sustenance from this variety.
