Iris fulva – Copper Iris – 2-Quart

A unique color for water iris, the copper to brick-red flowers make a striking accent pondside, streamside or in bog gardens. It can even be grown in spots that are only moist in Spring, drying out a little through Summer. Flower form is unique: Copper Iris has distinctly flat-topped flowers compared to other irises. This is primarily a species of wetlands and swamps in the southern Mississippi Valley, though it occurs as far north as southern Illinois and we’ve never had a problem with cold hardiness. Believe it or not the flowers are attractive to ruby-throated hummingbirds. Hummers and bumblebees are the species’ most important pollinators.
