Carex crinita – Fringed Sedge – 5-Pint

$12.00

One of the most graceful of our native sedges. It’s happy in both the woodland garden in a fair bit of shade and the wetland garden in a fair bit of sun. It’s also one of our largest sedges so give it plenty of room to spread out – a large clump provides quite an architectural presence in the garden. Like other sedges, Fringed Sedge is an important plant for wildlife – many butterfly caterpillars feed on the foliage, while the abundant seeds help feed numerous songbirds and wetland birds. Combine with other wetland species like Swamp Milkweed, Turtlehead, Blue Flag and Hibiscus.
