Nymphaea ‘Denver’ – Small Water Lily

A lovely double flowered hybrid with subtle primrose yellow flowers. Blooms of young plants often appear almost white, but as plants mature the yellow comes through. At the height of summer they stand well above the foliage. Free flowering late into the season. One of very few small growing yellow hardy lilies. Because we have space for a limited number of varieties we had a competition between ‘Denver’ and ‘Lemon Chiffon’ – two similar compact pale yellow lilies. ‘Lemon Chiffon’ had better yellow color – ‘Denver’ sometimes appears almost white – but ‘Denver’ is simply more floriferous and that is almost always our most important criteria in judging lilies. ‘Lemon Chiffon’ has been removed from our collection.
