Oenothera fruticosa ssp. tetragona ‘Fireworks’ – Northern Sundrops – 3-Quart

$14.00

Confused for many years in the trade, we are happy to be able to offer the true Oenothera fruticosa ‘Fireworks’. The cultivar was originally selected in Germany and given the name ‘Fyrverkeri’. It’s the most popular cultivar of the Sundrops and the most highly rated variety in a Chicago Botanic Garden trial of the genus Oenothera. Deep bronze foliage and striking red stems are contrasted by reddish orange buds opening to 2” canary yellow blooms – larger than any other variety. Practically the entire plant can get covered in flowers, in contrast with other varieties that have flowers mostly at the top of the plant. Burgundy rosettes in winter cover the ground and provide winter interest.
