Pyrus communis ‘Seckel’ – European Pear

$34.00$79.00

This variety bears small, round, oval fruit with rough, dark-brownish russeted skin. The fruit has smooth, juicy, yellow flesh and is very sweet with an excellent, aromatic flavor – so sweet that the variety is often called Honey Pear or Sugar Pear. The fruit is ideal for pickling, spicing, and canning whole. ‘Seckel’ is a slow-growing variety that is naturally semi-dwarf and fairly reliable cropping. It is somewhat self-fertile but benefits from cross-pollination. Resistant to fire blight. Thinning produces better size fruit. Ripens mid-season.
