Rudbeckia fulgida – Late Coneflower

The latest-blooming of the golden coneflowers. The form ‘Goldsturm’ (a selection of R. sullivantii) predominates in gardens and you’ll be hard pressed to find any other offerings at most nurseries. We also offer R. deamii and this variety – it’s longer blooming than ‘Goldsturm’, going from August to October; six weeks after ‘Goldsturm’ is brown, this plant is at its peak. A little bit shorter than ‘Goldsturm’ and with smaller flowers, but the best variety for the late Summer garden. Like all members of this group it’s a great butterfly plant and the seeds are eagerly eaten by birds.
