Rudbeckia hirta – Black-eyed Susan

This common old field wildflower is actually not native to our area, strictly speaking. It’s from the Midwest and moved to our area as a garden ornamental. There’s a form (R. hirta var. hirta) that is thought to be native to the northeast, but it’s rare and mostly found in undisturbed habitat, not typically in old fields.
