Rudbeckia subtomentosa ‘Henry Eilers’- Sweet Coneflower- 5 Pint

$10.00

This unique-looking plant was discovered growing wild in Montgomery County, Illinois. It bears numerous clusters of finely quilled butter yellow ray florets with brown cones in late summer. The common name supposedly derives from a fleeting but sweet vanilla fragrance given off by crushed foliage and a light scent of anise from the flowers – while the foliage does indeed seem to be mildly fragrant, try as we might, we notice little scent  from this plant’s flowers. Even so, it’s still a wonderful and underused ornamental. – in particular this form with its unusual flowers.
